For Birth Givers Midwifery provides whole-person preconception, prenatal, birth, and postpartum care to people within a 1.5 hr radius of Birmingham, Alabama. This practice exists to give compassionate, trauma-informed, identity-affirming services, and we welcome people across cultures, colors, orientations, religions, family structures, ages, and body types. Individualized care and autonomy are primary, and the inherent wisdom within you is the foundation here. The promise of midwifery and the work of the midwife is to “be with”, and we do that through active listening and attention, as well as informed consent, shared decision-making, and mutual respect. We are also deeply committed to the work of anti-racism and believe black bodies and birth matter, and we are dedicated to the ongoing journey of decolonizing birth work.
